Steps of Time

everywhere i turn
there were visions of you
memories in my eyes
so much to hang onto

the years have gone by
and the holes haven't been filled
the gaps keep getting wider
there's nothing to build

days go on by
and thoughts disappear
some out of living
some out of fear

little reminders
stuck here and there
the pain in the hours
tell me it's not fair

the sound of your name
still brings me to tears
no matter what they say
the pain don't ease with years

the thought of you
after all of this time
hurts me to no end
it's just pain no rhyme

i can only smile
when you're not in my mind
i can only see hope
when my eyes go blind

when i look in the mirror
what do i find
there is no reflection
i've left you behind
